Apache Junction
This weekend I realized there is indeed more to life and that is not just true in the movies.
I’m so sheltered it only took me hopping over two states to feel that way. I didn’t even go anywhere particularly ethereal. In fact, it was the type of place where you did not see just one, but two separate people wearing a Michael Myers T-shirt in the grocery store. Maybe it’s a good thing I’ve never been to Europe before, I think my head would explode. I liked it though. The people in Apache Junction, AZ are weird. Women with mullets and bikers with pride jackets. I liked it. It’s strange because I realized a lot of movie characters and personas are not as exaggerated as I thought, sometimes people are just that funkadelic.
On the other hand, I did have the type of weekend that made it hard to decipher whether I am an intellectual or mentally ill. Not that they’re mutually exclusive, but I hope I’m just one.
Then I think to myself: it’s beneficial to remember that, in the moments you feel the most insane, the world around us is filled with absurdity. The human brain's ability to not only bear it, but survive it, is what’s truly insane.
